OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The KCGA defeated the MAGA in the 2015 Mid-America Junior Cup at Nicklaus Golf Club on Sunday, October 25. This is the third year in a row that the KCGA keeps the Cup in Kansas City.

The Mid-America Junior Cup is a two day Ryder/Walker Cup style competition begun in 1999 in which the top juniors from Kansas City face off against the top juniors from St. Louis.  The KCGA and Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association (St. Louis) alternate in hosting the event each year. The KCGA led the 2015 Mid-America Junior Cup 3 to 1 after the first day.

The final round of the Mid-America Junior Cup was played in a Foursome match format. A Foursome match format is where the two players of the KCGA team plays against the MAGA team, and each side plays one ball, alternating shots.

The MAGA crawled back against the KCGA as it came down to the final match to decide the champion. In the first match, Joe Bultman and Megan Propeck halved the match against the MAGA team. The KCGA team of Julia Misemer and Garrett Clark fell to the MAGA team 4 and 3 in the second match, making the overall score 3.5 to 2.5, in favor of the KCGA. The third match came down to the 18th hole as the KCGA team of Eric Pahls and Caroline Klemp fell to the MAGA team 1 up, to make the overall match score 3.5 to 3.5. The 2015 Mid-America Junior Cup came down to the final round of the KCGA team of Andy Spencer and Taylor Black went into the 18th hole with a 1 up lead over the MAGA. Black and Spencer managed to win the hole and claim the Cup for the KCGA as they won 4.5 to 3.5.
