19-year old Kansas State University golfer Cooper Schultz claimed the 111th Kansas Amateur Match Play Championship on Sunday at Crestview Country Club in Wichita. Schultz bested Wichita State University golfer Brock Polhill by a 4&3 margin in the 36-hole final match on Crestview’s North Course.
The win continues a hot summer for Schultz, a Crestview CC member, who advanced to U.S. Open sectional qualifying in June and qualified for the U.S. Amateur in early June.
Polhill, 21, is a native of Edmond, Oklahoma, is redshirt junior for the Shockers. Polhill advanced to the finals after defeating Michael Winslow in the semifinals on Saturday afternoon. Schultz is a sophomore for the Wildcats. Schultz advanced after besting Matt Lazzo in his semifinal match on Saturday afternoon.

The 112th Kansas Amateur will be played at Newton’s Sand Creek Station Golf Course in July 2022.
