PARKVILLE, Mo. – Drew Lethem and Zac Dittmer qualified for the 2015 U.S. Amateur Championship. The 2015 U.S. Amateur Qualifier took place July 6-7 at the National Golf Club of Kansas City.
The 2015 U.S. Amateur Championship will be held at the Olympia Fields Country Club in Chicago, Illinois. This event is the oldest golf championship in the United States, even one day older than the U.S. Open.
The U.S. Amateur Qualifier at the National Golf Club of Kansas City held a 51 golfer-field, 36-hole stroke play event, fighting for two qualifying spots. There was a three-way tie for first-place after 18-holes with Dittmer, Lethem and Nick Sobba, as the three golfers fired 71 (-1).
The 36-hole, one-day qualifier was cut short as thunderstorms moved across the Kansas City area and forcing the event to extend to July 7th to complete the tournament. The storms forced 31-golfers to withdraw due to schedule conflicts of making it to the second day of the qualifier.
The second 18-holes continued with Lethem and Dittmer pulled away from the field. Lethem posted a two-round 71-71—142, totaling eight birdies for the event. Dittmer posted a two-round 71-74—145, including 10 birdies throughout the event.
