Denise Desilet of Wichita continued her record-breaking dominance of the KWGA Senior Championship winning her tenth title and sixth in a row on her home course – Reflection Ridge GC. Strong winds during both rounds made difficult playing conditions for the competitors, but Desilet stood out from the field with steady play in both rounds. Her performance of 77-81=158 total was twelve clear of second place finishers Susan DeVoe and Jettie Bezek, both from the Kansas City area. DeVoe claimed First Place Gross in the Senior First Flight, and Bezek won First Place Net in the Senior First Flight with a 75-75=150 net score. Carilyn Daniel-Riley from Trails West GC won First Place Net in Senior Flight 3 with a 72-74=146 net score.
Rosemary Grant of Falcon Ridge GC claimed her first KWGA Super Senior title with 89-91=180 over second place finishers Fran Hudson and Phyllis Fast who both finished with 183 totals. Grant’s steady second round play separated her from the field in the Super Senior Division, for women 70 years and over, on a day where tough conditions caused higher scores for most players.
