OLATHE, Kan. – The Stateline Amateur Tour continued play after a two month break during the summer at Prairie Highlands Golf Course in Olathe, Kansas, on Tuesday, August 4.
Prairie Highlands is known for its prairie grasses that line each hole and its zoysia grass fairways. Prairie Highlands has also been listed as one of Golf Digest’ top-five “places to play.”
The Stateline Amateur Tour reached the half-way point of the season at Prairie Highlands. In the Open division, Jon Platz and Cameron Wiltse battled one another throughout the day. Platz edged Wiltse as he inked 72 (E), including five birdies on the day. Wiltse finished runner-up posting 73 (+1), including three-birdies. Matt Kelley finished third firing a 77 (+5).
In the Players division, there was a two-way tie for first place in the gross scoring between Cole Gage and Matt Barberich as they both fired 72 (E). There was also a three-way tie for runner-up as Christian Guild, Kevin Rome and Marko Ungaschik all fired 74 (+2). In the net scoring, Cole Gage won as he posted 67 (-5) and Christian Guild finished runner-up firing 68 (-4).
Mackenzie Black controlled the Women’s Open division as she posted 76 (+4), including two birdies on the day. The runner-up was Kailiee Kuehn who fired 79 (+7). In the women’s division, Addie Chapin dominated the field as she fired 78 (+6) on the day. Nine-strokes behind Chapin was Amanda Hanneman who posted an 87.
The Senior division, there was two-way tie for first place between Dave Cunningham and Don Kuehn as they posted 72 (E). Kuehn and Cunningham each had two birdies on the day. Ed Walsworth fell one-stroke away from making it a three-way tie for first as he finished runner-up firing 73 (+1).
The Legends division was led by Greg Aikmus in the gross scoring as he fired 69 (-3). Two-strokes behind Aikmus was David Hornaday who finished runner up firing 71 (-1). In the net scoring, Greg Aikmus posted 62 (-10), three-strokes ahead of the runner-up. Pat Goeke and David Hornaday finished tied for second as they posted 65 (-7).
