QUARTERFINAL ROUND

The winner of each of the six divisions will qualify for the 2025 Kansas Cup Playoffs.  Additionally, two “wild card” teams will also advance to the 2025 Kansas Cup Playoffs.  The Quarterfinal Round matches and host courses is detailed below.  Tie breaking procedures to determine playoff qualifiers is detailed below.  The Quarterfinal Round playoff matches must be played by October 8th at the latest.

BREAKING TIES FOR DIVISION WINNERS:

If two teams in a division end up the regular season with the same number of division wins, the tie shall be broken based on the following criteria, in order of their application:

  1. Head-to-head division wins between the tied teams.  If teams split divisional matches;
  2. The team with the largest number of points earned in its divisional matches.  If still tied,
  3. The team with the largest number of singles points earned in its divisional matches.  If still tied,
  4. Lot

BREAKING TIES FOR PLAYOFF “WILD CARD” TEAMS

To determine the two (2) “wild card” teams that will advance to the 2025 Kansas Cup Playoffs, the “wild card” teams will be determined based on the following criteria, in order of their application:

  1. The teams that are not a division winner with the best overall win percentage in divisional play will advance to the playoffs as the wild card team (Prairie Trails, GreatLife-Salina, Salina CC and Wellingon all won 50% of their divisional matches). If still tied;
  2. The team with the largest number of points earned by percentage in its divisional matches (Wellington won 47% of their divisional match points, Prairie Trails won 46% of their divisional match points, Salina CC won 45.8% of their divisional points, GreatLife-Salina won 45.8% of their divisional points).  If still tied;
  3. The team with the largest number of singles points earned by percentage in its divisional matches. If still tied;
  4. Lot

    *NOTE* Win percentage of matches, total points earned by percentage available and total singles points earned by percentage available will be used since not all divisions have the same number of teams (Division F has four teams instead of three). An overall match point that is tied will count as a half win when determining a team win percentage.

DETERMINING SEEDS FOR PLAYOFF QUARTERFINAL BRACKET:

All teams in the 2025 Kansas Cup Playoffs shall be seeded, but in no event shall the “wildcard” teams be seeded higher than a division winner.  Division winners will be bracketed and seeded #1 through #6.  The “wildcard” teams will be the #7 and #8 seeds in the playoff quarterfinal bracket.  Teams will be seeded based on the following criteria, in order of their application:

  1. Largest number of division wins by percentage (Wamego CC, Lawrence CC, Terradyne CC all tied with 100% win percentage).  If still tied,
  2. Largest number of points earned in its divisional matches by percentage. (Terradyne won 78% of their divisional match points, Wamego won 78% of their division match points, Lawrence CC won 71% of their divisional match points). If still tied,
  3. Largest number of singles points earned in its division matches (Terradyne earned greater percentage of singles points than Wamego).  If still tied,
  4. Lot

PLAYOFF MATCH TIED AFTER COMPLETION OF INDIVIDUAL MATCHES

In the event of a 4.5 point to 4.5 point tie at the conclusion of the nine matches, a playoff shall be conducted according to the following procedures and matches involved:

The Open (non-Senior) Singles Match players, the Senior Modified Chapman Match teams, and the Open/Senior Mixed Four-Ball Match teams.  There will then be three matches played, each at sudden death.  This means there will be three points at stake in sudden death.  The team that wins two points shall win the match. Note: all three sudden death matches must be contested against the same opponent.  In the interest of time and as a convenience to the players and host club involved, the sudden-death points for the Senior Modified Chapman Match and Open Singles Match may be contested prior to the conclusion of other matches.
